Model B Steinway Grand
This was a project I completed back in high school—I vividly remember being mesmerized by the whole design process, jumping out of bed early in the morning and staying in the lab until curfew.
Not to get all personal, but this project will always hold a special place in my heart, as I am a classical pianist of nearly a decade and the outcome of this project really cemented my confidence and passion for engineering.
Results
The final model is a fully functional, single octave, to-scale Steinway Model B Grand. Each key plays the actual frequency of the corresponding note; the lid is hinged, and can adjust to 4 heights; an LED indicates the power status.
And, of course, the Harry & Sons logo is proudly engraved on top.
